Cherry Chocolate Cake
This is my favorite dessert!
This dessert is so quick and easy to make! The cherry just adds a little something extra to your everyday chocolate cake.
This cake is so easy to make, you might just take a look at the name and figure it out yourself, but just in case, here it is!
Prep Time
25 Minutes
Bake Time
30-45 minutes depending on your pan size
(For this, look at the directory on the back of your cake box)
What You'll Need
- 3-4 jars of Maraschino cherries
- Regular Chocolate cake mix and its ingredients (I'll list below anyway)
- Chocolate frosting
- 1/4 cup of juice from cherries (instead of water)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 Eggs
- Large mixing bowl
- Medium Bowl
- Spoon
- Cake pan
- Mixer or whisk
1. Begin with your regular cake mix, begin making it as you normally would, but in place of the recommended water, use the juice from your cherries
2. Continue as recommended until mixed properly. If you'd like, you could even add a tad more cherry juice before transferring the mix into your cake pan
3. Pop your cake into the oven and allow it to bake
4. Once your cake is baked to completion, wait for it to cool slightly (not cold), and start poking small holes on the top. Not all over, just a couple to allow more juice to seep in.
5. After poking the holes, you will need more cherry juice. DON'T OVERDUE THIS! We don't want the cake soggy. Just take your spoon with a tad bit of cherry juice and pour it into the holes. Again, not a ton. It does disperse into the cake a little.
*I suppose, if you wanted to, after pouring some juice in, you could put some cherries in these holes. I haven't tried that yet, but now that I'm thinking of it, I definitely will!*
6. Next, take your frosting and transfer it to a medium sized bowl. Take about a quarter of a cup of cherry juice and mix it in with your icing for an extra hint of cherry.
7. Mix your icing/juice combo well and begin to ice your cake
8. Top your Cherry Chocolate cake with as many cherries as your heart desires! I tend to use a lot for mine.
9. Enjoy!
